Many Gaultier fragrances contain a familiar mix of vanilla that is neither deep and boozy-bourbon but not really vanillic either, more like plasticky white musky vanilla? I really can't smell the anise but I don't tend to get anise or licorice notes in general..be my nose. I think it might be better in warmer weather, will have to try in in spring. I like more * safe* perfumes and this is definitely safe would be appropriate for most occasions.Anyway, Classique is an interesting mix - it's clean soapy and dirty oriental at the same time! I actually wore this Putting up the Christmas tree.I love Le Male, think it's far more better executed, but still - yep, this deserves the label "a classic" as well.It brings me great joy to share my experience with this wonderful perfume. In the top notes delicate rose scent is spiced by fresh anis.Middle notes combine sweetness of orange blossom and exciting ginger, a powerful aphrodisiac.Silly me, edp is the one with lace pattern, the one here on this page IS the edt.I have no clue why I thought there was edt and edp of this frosted glass one.
But I won't give up on this one and am going to try it again every now and then to see if it maybe has better sillage and longevity. I will def wear this and finish the bottle but I will not rebuy it. I wore this and nothing else for more than a decade. Still love it and seriously considering getting it again when the bottle of Classique Couples limited edition I recently bought didn't smell anywhere near like the original. But I just dabbed some on my hair, and I can't believe how nice it is, slightly powdery, clean smelling, softly sweet vanilla floral with a hint of something citrusy.I think I can smell a bit of something like jasmine too.But unfortunately it was kinda sharp smelling when I sprayed it on my skin and it stayed that way.I decided to give it a try again and I like the smell on my skin now, yeah :)!
